Brendon McCullum has renewed his contract with Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Brisbane Heat. He will now play for them till 2020 edition. McCullum will also lead Heat in the upcoming BBL season. Heat had earlier extended Chris Lynn’s contract to five years in October.

Heat’s GM Andrew McShea said: “It’s been an important year with the management of our playing list with a large number of players committing to long-term deals including Chris Lynn.”

McCullum missed the Caribbean Premier League this year after fracturing his arm playing for Trinbago Knight Riders.

He made his return to franchise cricket in Bangladesh Premier League 2017. He captained Rangpur Riders to a maiden BPL title after hitting a fifty in the final.

Daniel Vettori, who coaches Heat, said: “He has made an excellent recovery from the broken arm and his last three or four innings in Bangladesh were impressive. We all looking forward to getting straight into our preparations ahead of Wednesday’s game.”
