Brendon McCullum and Suresh Raina are setting a good platform for the Chennai Super Kings in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 game against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the JSCA International Stadium, Ranchi. Chennai had lost Dwayne Smith in the third over after he helped them to a good start, but since then, it has been the McCullum-show. In nine overs, Chennai are 72 for one. After six initial overs of spin, R Vinay Kumar was finally introduced in the seventh over. It was a good over to start with, but then off the last ball of the over, he was smoked by McCullum over square-leg for a huge six. However, spin continued at the other end with Piyush Chawla. And McCullum then smashed the third ball through square-leg for a four as it was short and asking to be hit.

Vinay Kumar came back to bowl in the ninth over and was smashed over square-leg for a four. And later, he pulled one through fine-leg for a four. Click here for the live scorecard of the IPL 2014 game between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders

Earlier, Chennai had won the toss and chose to bat first. However, just as the toss was done, the rain started coming down soon after and that delayed the start of the game by an hour and 40 minutes. As a result of the delay, the game was reduced to a 17 overs a side affair.
