After a shocking defeat in the super over to USA and another disappointing result against India, Pakistan finally managed to get some points on the board thanks to a crucial win against Canada at the Nassau County stadium in New York. Their net run-rate has risen a little after the victory as well.

Even with the win, Pakistan only have 2 points in 3 matches and sit third in Group A. In order to qualify for the Super 8, Pakistan not only need to win their last group game but also need favors from other teams.

Babar Azam’s side will need to beat Ireland but will also need the USA to lose both of their remaining games against India and Ireland by a combined margin of 10 runs (with scores of over 140 by the team batting first). A win by any margin would be enough for Pakistan to qualify as long as they score at least 112 runs batting first.

However, it could all end up going very wrong for Pakistan if their match against Ireland at Central Broward Park, Lauderhill gets washed out similar to how the Sri Lanka vs Nepal match got washed out on Wednesday morning at the same venue. If USA manage to get even one more point and Pakistan drop a point due to a washout, the Asian giants will bow out of the T20 World Cup.
