Canada are fighting hard after losing early wickets in their World Cup Group A match against Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Zubin Surkari and Jimmy Hansra repaired the innings together albeit scoring at a tardy pace against the penetrative Pakistan bowling attack after openers Ruvindu Gunasekera and 16-year-old Nitish Kumar fell to Umar Gul and Abdul Razzaq at the score on 16.

Surkari was not out on 22 and giving him company was Jimmy Hansra on 18 as Canada reached 74 for 3 in 25 overs.

Skipper Ashish Bagai fell to rival captain Shahid Afridi for 16.

Earlier, Canada bowlers did a splendid job of bowling out Pakistan for 184 in 43 overs. Harvir Baidwan snared three wickets while Rizwan Cheema, Balaji Rao and Jimmy Hansra picked up two wickets each.

Brief Scores: Canada 74 for 3 in 25 overs (Zubin Surkari 22 *, Jimmy Hansra 18*; Shahid Afridi 1 for 12, Umar Gul 1 for 15, Abdul Razzak 1 for 16) vs Pakistan.
