After missing out on a Test spot for two consecutive series, Rohit Sharma finally got his chance when he made the playing XI for the Adelaide Test against Australia on Thursday. The stage was nicely set for the India limited-overs star to make a mark after arriving at crease with his team in trouble.

At 41/4, India were in dire straits and in walked Rohit. He began well, hitting a four off Nathan Lyon through covers and the clattering paceman Pat Cummins for two sixes.

He had battled his way to 37 off 60 when a moment of brain-freeze put an end to his innings. He had just managed to clear the deep square leg boundary for a third six off Nathan Lyon. He tried a repeating the same off the following delivery and this time he ran out of luck.

With the hype surrounding this Indian team, the terrible start to the Test series hasn’t gone down well with their fans on social media. Rohit, in particular, was at the receiving end of the ire on Twitter with several users trolling him for playing a rash stroke to lose his wicket.
