Chennai Super Kings should not exist: Lalit Modi
Mumbai: May 25, 2013
Former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi on Saturday demanded the termination of Chennai Super Kings franchisee and called for fresh auctions to be held after the arrest of N Srinivasan’s son-in-law, Gurunath Meiyappan.
“If a owner of an IPL team is engaged in betting, the contract clearly states that there is a suo motu right to cancel the agreement of the team and that should be done right away [sic],” Modi was quoted as saying by CNN-IBN.

Modi also suggested that the owners should now come forward and run the IPL. The leash should be taken away from BCCI and the IPL governing council.
