Chennai Super Kings to take call on MS Dhoni’s future

There is just one question in the mind of the Indian Premier League (IPL) followers and that is, will they ever watch Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper again play in the tournament? There might be good news for them, as it is heard that Mahendra Singh Dhoni hasn’t given up on the team and the franchise will be soon meeting him to discuss their plan of action. Rajiv Shukla proposes committee to look into IPL’s best interests
Nobody has forgotten the words of Captain Cool. He once told in an interview that he wouldn’t play in the IPL if CSK was excluded from it. And with facing the suspension for next two seasons, IPL will not only see the yellow jersey out but also the biggest brand of the tournament, ie, MS Dhoni.
According to a report from Times of India, the top bosses of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL) immediately got in touch with Dhoni on Tuesday after Justice Lodha committee announced its verdict and they are likely to meet in the coming days. IPL Governing Council must make sure players of banned franchises play in IPL 9: EAS
“We have spoken to people who are in touch with him and it’s likely that we will go and meet him very soon,” said a source.
However, the new franchise, CSKCL, do not intend to pressurize the Indian ODI captain. The only reason they want to discuss their plans with Dhoni is the latter’s association with the team since the beginning. IPL 9 will go ahead as planned, says Rajeev Shukla
“There is no question of pressurizing from our end. It’s his profession and he will decide what he wants to do. But yes, Dhoni has been deeply associated with our brand right from the beginning and we would like to discuss our plans with him,” said the source.
Also, there is no clarity if it’s CSKCL that is going to make the petition or if it’s India Cements, which has been barred from holding the franchise for the next two years. IPL verdict by Lodha Committee should be respected: Indian sports minister
We have to see if it’s CSKCL that is going to make the petition or if it’s India Cements, which has been barred from holding the franchise for the next two years. We are not going to rush on this and will take our time before coming to a decision on how to go about it,” the source added.
Justice Lodha, on Tuesday, said that the ban is on India Cements from holding the franchise but there was no mention of CSKCL. Although, there was an understanding that Super Kings players can play under CSKCL, there is still a doubt regarding that because the ban is is not just on India Cements but also CSK.
