Cheteshwar Pujara scored a fine hundred against Sri Lanka in the third Test match of the series to help the Indian innings stick together despite lack of consistent support from the other end. He went to tea unbeaten at 101, with India tottering at 220 for seven. Pujara batted very well and continued with grit and determination despite surviving a few threats early on. He left the balls outside off tirelessly and oozed patience. He will look to stay on till the end in order to help India finish with a decent first innings score. India lost wickets at regular intervals after Virat Kohli became the first wicket to fall in the day for 18 runs. Rohit Sharma, Naman Ojha, Ravichandran Ashwin and Stuart Binny were dismissed for small scores but Pujara was steadfast. He batted well with Amit Mishra who chipped in with timely singles (amid a few rash shots). Live cricket scorecard: India vs Sri Lanka, 3rd Test at Colombo (SSC)

For Sri Lanka, Dhammika Prasad has been the pick of the bowlers. He has identified the nature of the pitch and bowled accordingly. Pujara was beaten quite a few times by Prasad but looked at ease against the spinners Rangana Herath and Tharindu Kaushal who didn’t get much purchase from the wicket.
