n the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 game played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils, Bangalore made a fine start after Delhi won the toss and inserted them into bat. It was the big man Chris Gayle who went after JP Duminy’s part-time off-spin to smash him for 13 runs during the second over of the game. At the other end, his partner, Parthiv Patel looked to consolidate.

Parthiv though he showed his class by Mohammed Shami the sesm/swing bowler for a boundary during the last ball of the third over of the innings. It was the impressive Siddarth Kaul who came in as first change. He bowled decent lines and lengths in the first over of the game. It takes something to keep quiet Gayle and that is what he did.

Even when Gayle came down the wicket he bowled it a touch wide of off-stump to escape away from punishment. It was Rahul Shukla who dismissed by coming from around the wicket and then getting him out by cutting him for room as Gayle looked to go a wild slog across the line. Earlier,  Delhi won the toss and elected to field. Before the game started, there was a light drizzle that continued to frustrate for sometime, before the toss took place. Thankfully, no overs were cut off and that means it will be a 20-over game. The track is flat for batting and it should hold true for the entire duration of the match.
