Chris Harris to coach Zimbabwe U19 team for World Cup

Zimbabwe Cricket has named a a 30-member provisional squad for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup in August.

 

The squad for Australia will be trimmed to a 15-member squad in July.

 

Shingai Rhuhwaya, head of media and communication said, “A provisional Zimbabwe U-19 squad of 30 has been submitted to the International Cricket Council in preparation for the ICC U-19 World Cup which will be played in Sydney, Australia, from the 4th to the 21st of August this year. The final 15 will be selected on the 15th of July before the team departs for Australia.”

 

Former New Zealand player Chris Harris will be the coach of the team and will be assisted by Walter Chawaguta.

 

The Zimbabwe under-19 team has been preparing for the tournament by playing practice matches against Dubai Academy.

 

Spinner, Wellington Masakadza, younger brother of Hamilton and Shingirai, is also part of the provisional squad as reported by Newsday.

 

The team will play warm-up matches against England and Namibia on August 7 and 8 ahead of the first match against Papua New Guinea on August 11.
