Chris Woakes is a doubtful starter for the fourth India vs England Test starting Thursday at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton, having missed training on Tuesday due to a recurrence of pain in his right thigh.

An England & Wales Cricket Board spokesperson said on Tuesday: “Woakes has tightness in his right quad and will not train today. We will take a view where he is at tomorrow.”

This is the injury that ruled the allrounder out of England’s limited-overs series against Pakistan, Australia and England this summer.

On return to the Test side for the second Test at Lord’s, Woakes was named Man of the Match for scoring his maiden century to go with four wickets in an innings win for England.

No replacement has been named as of now, and it is unlikely that England will given the presence of allrounder Sam Curran in the squad for the fourth Test against India.
