CLT20 2013: Kumar Sangakkara's presence crucial, says Lahiru Thirimanne

Ahead of the Champions League 2013 qualifiers against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kandurata Maroons’ skipper Lahiru Thirimanne felt that  that Kumar Sangakkara’s experience with the Indian Premier League team will help them.

“It’s a real privilege to have Sangakkara in our team. We all know how good he is. He plays for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and he knows what they are capable of. He is helping us a lot in terms of giving us information about their players and forming strategies,” Thirimanne was quoted assaying by the official website of CLT20.

Thirimanne also revealed that his team is banking on spinners to deliver with tweakers of the calibre of Ajantha Mendis and Rangana Hearath in the team.
“Having spinners like Ajantha Mendis and Rangana Herath gives us a very good chance of succeeding in this tournament. In the pace department, we have Kulasekara and he has been performing really well at the international level.
“We have Dilhara Lokuhettige who came back in the Sri Lankan side for the Champions Trophy in England. We have a good pace attack, but we will rely on our spinners in this tournament,” Thrimanne was quoted as saying by the official website of CLT20.
The Maroons will begin their campaign with the first qualifier Hyderabad on Tuesday.
