The Victorians won the toss and elected to bat first but could not play up to the expectations, ending their innings for a paltry 129 for 8 in the first innings. The Bulls’ bowlers combined their attack and everyone contributed in restricting their opponents for 129. The fielding of the side was also commendable as they pulled off a few run outs. Imrul Kayes, along with Khalid Latif opened the innings for the Victorians while Taijul Islam was given the responsibility to open bowling. Taijul gave his team the first breakthrough in the very first over, getting Kayes out for a duck in the very second ball. Kayes was beaten for the turn as Taijul’s full length delivery bowled him. Despite an early loss of wicket, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Latif continued with the aggressive style of batting. After a couple of boundaries, Latif was removed by Abu Hider Rony. Rony bowled a yorker which Latif failed to play and departed for 12, edging it to Mushfiqur Rahim.

They kept on losing wickets as Shanto went back for 16 for a run out. The only batsman to sore some good runs was Marlon Samuels who stayed at the crease for long and scored a run-a-ball 48 with the help of five boundaries. Wickets kept falling at the other end as Liton Das, Imad Wasim and Nahidul Islam all departed for single-digit scores.

Sohail Tanvir down the order tried to add some quick runs, hitting a six. He ended the innings with a six as well while skipper Mashrafe Mortaza was out off the penultimate delivery.

Wicketkeeper-skipper Mushfiqur Rahim’s captaincy in the match has to be praised as he did some successful bowling changes that kept the flow of wickets going. Samuels played an impressive knock as it was necessary for an experienced player to hold the innings from one end.
