Comilla Victrorians played well in the 17th game of the Bangladesh Premier League 2016-17 against Rangpur Riders at Chittagong on Friday. Rangpur Riders won the toss and elected to field first. The decision turned out to be the right one as they restricted Comilla Victorians for for a mere 122. It was some good bowling by their bowlers and have given themselves a solid chance to win this game. It’s an important game for both the teams as Riders are fighting to notch the top spot in the points table while Victorians are playing to register their first win. Rangpur Riders were brilliantly led by Shahid Afridi, who made canny changes and didn’t let Victorians post a huge target. Victorians got off to a shaky start as they lost early wickets in the form of Liton Das and Imrul Kayes were dismissed early on. Liton was run out for 4 while Sohag Gazi got the better of Kayes for 5. Ahmed Shehzad played well and weathered the early storm with guile. He was out for 52 by Anwar Ali. Shehzad played well and scored four boundaries and a six. Marlon Samuels played well and anchored the Victorians innings. The run-rate was not up to the mark, which didn’t let them post a big total. Rangpur Riders bowlers did well to chip early wickets and didn’t leak too many runs. They bowled a tight line and kept the batsmen under check.

Anwar Ali did well for his solitary wicket Sohag Gazi was excellent in his couple of overs. Shahid Afridi remained wicketless but was economical as he gave away only 18 runs in his spell of four overs. Arafat Sunny, Rubel Hossain, Ziaur Rahman all did a fantastic job with the ball. The target is not very challenging for the Rangpur Riders and one can expect them to hunt it down. They have some good batting coming up and the run chase will be interesting to watch.
