Sri Lanka clinched a thriller against Australia in the 12th One-Day International to seal a deserving spot in the finals of the ongoing CB Series, beating the hosts by 9 runs.
Sri Lanka were defending a modest total of 238 runs, but did well to stop the Australians from winning their first game against the Islanders in the series.
India, who were dependent on the outcome of this match, have finally been thrown out of the tri-series.
The tournament Down Under between four-time world champions Australia and ICC 2011 World Cup finalists India and Sri Lanka has been filled with some intense moments, tight finishes that also included a tied match between India and Sri Lanka at Adelaide Oval on February 14.
Virat Kohli’s batting fireworks set up one of the most historic run chases, when India chased down a mammoth target of 321 runs inside 37 overs to keep their hopes alive.
