In a bid to fight the coronavirus pandemic, India cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara joined the bandwagon by donating an undisclosed amount PM CARES and the Gujarat CM Relief Fund. Pujara revealed this in a tweet on Tuesday where he urged others to contribute as well.
In his tweet, he also thanked the doctors and police, who have done a brilliant job in keeping things under control.
“My family and I have contributed our bit to the PM CARES fund and Gujarat CM Relief Fund, and hope you will too. We are thankful to all medical professionals, police men and women and all others who are out there working hard for our country and humanity,” his statement in the tweet read.
Cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma among others have also made monetary contributions towards the COVID-19 relief fund.
In India, the number of positive cases has already crossed the 4500-mark and is on the rise.
Due to this coronavirus pandemic, most of the major sporting events have been postponed or canceled as the world has come to a halt. India is going through a 21-day lockdown and relief funds have been set up by various organisations to support the poor and the needy at this time.
