Axar Patel, India’s left-arm spinning allrounder, has made a pivotal performance on debut for English county side Durham, scoring an unbeaten 95 against Glamorgan in the County Championship Division Two.

In reply to the home team’s 154, Durham made 295 with Axar stranded five short of a century. His 95 not out featured 12 fours. Axar had taken 2/10 in Glamorgan’s first innings.

The 24-year-old, who has played 38 ODIs and 11 T20Is for India, signed with Durham for their last six Championship games. He has been in England for much of the summer, having played for India A since mid-June.
