Weight loss and a much improved body composition has played a huge part in keeping India’s in-form pacer Mohammad Shami injury-free over the past 12-18 months, says Kings XI Punjab physio Brett Harrop.

Shami’s stellar performances in the overseas Test tours of South Africa, England and Australia also helped him secure an unexpected World Cup berth, considering he was not a regular in the 50-over format as recent as six months ago.

The Bangladesh cricket team will receive VVIP security during its tour of Ireland and England for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Tuesday, as it embarks for its first series since the gruesome Christchurch mosque attacks in New Zealand in March.

Speaking to reporters this week, BCB media committee head Jalal Younus said the board was satisfied with the security plan provided by Cricket Ireland following a BCB request, and on April 30 the board president Nazmul Hossain confirmed that a very high level security detail will accompany Mashrafe Mortaza’s team and support staff.

Bangalore need a miracle to make the IPL playoffs. All but out of the tournament, and with the World Cup a month away, could it be that RCB give their skipper Virat Kohli a break?

Kohli is second on RCB’s run-table this season with 423 at 35.25 and a strike-rate of 134.71, with one century and two half-centuries. Low numbers by his high standards, and his captaincy has also been disappointing.

While Kohli is not one to drop himself, it could be that the time has come to allow India’s captain and most valuable player time to rest before the World Cup.
