‘CSK support staff don’t have the guts’: Former Indian star makes massive claim as MS Dhoni bats at No. 9

MS Dhoni came out to bat at a surprisingly low position at No. 9 as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 50 runs in IPL 2025. CSK were looking to be at a bad position, but their star batter MS Dhoni walked in when seven wickets had fallen, as the target was almost impossible to reach.

Former Indian cricketer and expert Manoj Tiwary lashed out at this decision to let Dhoni come at that place, and even stated that the CSK support staff dears telling Dhoni to bat higher up in the lineup.

“It’s beyond my understanding how a batter like MS Dhoni, who can stay unbeaten after scoring 30 off 16 balls, is not coming up the order. You are playing to win, right?” Tiwary said, speaking on Cricbuzz.

“He has the maximum strike rate among all the CSK batters. If you know you can do it, you should look to bat higher and try to win the game,” he added.

Tiwary has even made the claim that the management of CSK is afraid to advice Dhoni in this regard, and that they are too afraid to tell him to move up on the order.

“CSK coaching staff do not have the guts to tell MS Dhoni to move up the order. I think they will never be able to tell him. Once he has decided, that’s it. This is what I think,” Tiwary said.

CSK lost the match against RCB by 50 runs, but will be aiming to recover from this defeat and perform well in their upcoming clash. CSK is now going to face Rajasthan Royals in the second match of a double-header on March 30, set to begin 7:30 PM IST.
