CSK vs DC LIVE: Powerplay update – Chennai Super Kings crawl to 27/1 in six overs vs Delhi Capitals

Chennai Super Kings had such a slow start against Delhi Capitals in Match 50 of IPL 2019 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Wednesday that they got in to double figures only in the fifth over, after losing Shane Watson to an eight-ball duck off Jagadeesha Suchith.

CSK crawled to just 27/1 after Trent Boult send down a tidy first spell of 2-0-2-0 while Suchith’s two yielded just five runs. Chirs Morris was taken for two fours in his first over by Faf du Plessis and Suresh Raina.

Watson, after playing a dot of Boult and four dots off Suchith, tried to get going with a hoick off a half-tracker off Suchith but found Axar Patel at deep midwicket.

But, Raina and du Plessis added 23 runs in 16 balls to get CSK going. The last over of the powerplay bowled by Patel went for 10 runs, with Raina getting two fours.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl. DC brought in Suchith and Trent Boult while Kagiso Rabada was rested. For CSK, Dhoni, du Plessis and Ravindra Jadeja were back after missing the previous game.

MS Dhoni, CSK captain: Less dew today, because of the cloud cover. When you’ve played enough international cricket it’s never 100%. You’re always a little less than that. We were looking to bat first anyway. It’s a bit of a worry for the opposition, because I’ll be coughing at them (laughs). Me, Faf and Jadeja come in for Dhruv Shorey, Santner, and Murali Vijay.
