England prior to the start of play would have likened the fact that they are just 3 wickets down.Starting the morning session at 172/3 ended on 272 for 7 at lunch. Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali batted well but  England kept losing wickets in a heap. Bairstow and Ali partnership has contributed 48 runs to the teams total before Dane Piedt got Ali lbw for 16. Joe Root and James Taylor started to bat well with the South African bowler’s getting reverse swing with the old ball. Morne Morkel got the ball to jag back into Root and Taylor with Dane Piedt applying pressure on the other end. It was all Dane Piedt show there after who knocked of Ben Stokes and James Taylor. James Taylor who looked good in his innings of 42, got out to Piedt trying to flick one away on the leg side misses the ball completely and get stumped by AB de Villiers. Ben Stokes who in a short stay on the pitch looked aggressive trying to hit every ball out of the park. Piedt again struck for South Africa picking up Stokes who was trying to hit a reverse sweep managed only to get the top edge to Dean Elgar.Root added only 12 runs to his over night score got out to Kyle Abbot who over took the bowling responsibilities from Morkel. Dale Steyn services were dearly missed by South Africa as the ball was reversing, with his pace English batsmen would have struggled with Morkel already keeping the batsmen under-check.
