England came out after lunch with a lead of 89 runs after bowling England out for 214. This session is more about England batting and South Africa’s produced Dale Steyn drama. Steyn and Morne Morkel bowled with pace in the initial overs before, Steyn half-way into his 3rd over felt a niggle over his shoulder and decided to go off the field. Dane Piedt who came into replace Steyn picked up England skipper Alastair Cook for 7 runs off 27 balls. Piedt did get a lot of purchase of the pitch, with their being considerable wear and tear. After initial scare losing Cook, Compton and Hales did manage to keep nerves calm and absorbing everything that Morkel and Co had to bowl at them. Hales has look unlike himself blocking every ball with a glimpse of his hitting best in between. Alex Hales finally gave his true self a go with trying to hit Dane Piedt off for a six only to be caught by Kyle Abbott at long on. Alex Hales made 26 from 84 balls. Dale Steyn after being off the field for about 14 overs did make a mini-come back bowling just three balls before going back in the pavilion. Steyn in his three balls looked at his fierce best only to be again worried with his shoulder.Luck has not been on the South African side with catches being dropped of Joe Root by Dean Elgar and AB de Villiers.
