It was their opening batsman Danushka Gunathilaka who brought this moment of cheer by grabbing an excellent catch while fielding at point. On the last ball of the 30th over, when the match was already in the hands of England, Suranga Lakmal bowled an outstide off-stump delivery, which Eoin Morgan cut towards point but Gunathilaka pulled off a stunner there. The Sri Lankan fielder had little reaction time and had to dive towards his right to complete the catch. It eventually became an excellent catch, as the fielder was horizontally in the air the moment catch was taken.
Later, England opener Jason Roy continued hammering the Sri Lankan bowlers and scored 118-ball 162. In the end, it was wicketkeeper Jos Buttler who ensured the victory and series win for England with a boundary off the first ball of 41st over.
