In the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2016-17, Darren Sammy did something which was not at all expected from a player of his level. The Rajshahi Kings had their fixture against Khulna Titans when Sammy came into bowl what was the 11th over of the match. The Titans had their wicketkeeper-batsman Rikki Wessels and captain Mahmudullah at the crease and they still needed 93 runs from 63 balls with 8 wickets in hand. Sammy bowled a good length ball on the stumps which Wessels went for with a cross-batted swipe but eventually missed it and was clean bowled. That wicket did obviously mean a big thing for the Kings, but the way Sammy celebrated was utter callousness and something which you cannot expect from a player who has captained a World Twenty20 International winning squad.

The kind of celebration that Sammy went with is something which cannot be associated with a player of his ranks. Sammy is a well-known specialist across all formats of cricket and has played in almost every league in every part of the world. It is very obvious that you have the adrenaline push as a player when you are having one of your best nights in the field, but to celebrate in such a way can t be accepted in any condition.

The BPL is a league wherein the local talent has introduced to the top-most level of cricket and for any player who plays at such a level will look up to such star players. And also adorning the skipper s band in itself bestows you with a lot of responsibility.

But irrespective of this, to rejoice in such a manner can be very disappointing to see from such a well-known player at the highest level of cricket

Sammy did have one of the best nights in the series so far as first he played a blistering knock of unbeaten 71 runs from just 41 balls to take his side to a respectable position. Moreover, he also made bowled in some tight overs in the middle stage to restrict the flow of runs. The Kings won this match by 9 runs and also ensured their challenge alive in the league which will be a good and positive sign for the team!

It remains to be seen whether Sammy will be fined or if at all any warning for this celebration, but something not expected from Sammy and we hope that how much ever pumped he is in the match, he may go ahead with the trademark West Indian celebration of Champion dance, but definitely not this!
