David Miller, JP Duminy strengthen South African innings against Zimbabwe in ICC World Cup 2015

David Miller and JP Duminy strengthened Proteas’ innings in the South Africa vs Zimbabwe Pool B match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at Seddon Park, Hamilton on Sunday. After initial hiccups, David Miller and JP Duminy steadied the South African innings. David Miller completed his half-century, followed by JP Duminy. This is Miller’s ninth One-Day International (ODI) half-century and Duminy’s 21st half-century. The partnership between the two was 160 runs from 153 balls. This is Miller and Duminy’s second 100 runs partnership in over 20 innings in ODIs and also the highest fifth wicket partnership in World Cup matches.

South Africa lost AB de Villiers as Craig Ervine took a spectacular catch at the boundary. AB de Villiers scored 25 from 36 balls as Tafadzwa Kamungozi took the wicket. South Africa made a slow start. But, skipper Elton Chigumbura removed Faf du Plessis for 24 as the Proteas lost their third wicket. The partnership between Du Plessis and De Villiers was from 46 runs 53 balls. Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bowl against South Africa. South Africa lost two early wickets. Quinton de Kock was dismissed for seven by Tendai Chatara. De Kock was caught by Craig Ervine as he hit the ball straight into the hands of the fielder. De Kock scored seven from 16 balls before getting dismissed. Later on, Tendai Chatara almost took a second wicket when Hashim Amla was given out for leg-before wicket. After consulting with Faf du Plessis, Amla decided to go upstairs. The TV replay showed that the ball was missing the stumps. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: POINTS TABLE

However, very soon Tinashe Panyangara bowled Hashim Amla for 11 runs. There was another chance of a wicket when Faf du Plessis nicked one, but it fell just short of Elton Chigumbura. Solomon Mire was the third bowler to be introduced into the attack and skipper Elton Chigumbura was the fourth bowler.
