David Warner rises to career-best 4th in ICC Test rankings for batsmen

Though Australia lost by a big margin of 221 runs against Pakistan in the first Test, one Australian still has a reason to cheer. Opener David Warner climbed to a career-best fourth spot in the ICC Test rankings for batsmen. Warner made a big impact with his 133 in the first innings of the Test. It was his third ton in consecutive innings, a record held by only one other Australian, Sir Don Bradman.

Warner is 12 points behind Shivnarine Chanderpaul at third while Kumar Sangakkara and AB de Villiers are placed first and second respectively. Pakistan batsman Younis Khan who scored centuries in each innings has moved up to seventh in the rankings.

Another Australian who had a good outing was Mitchell Johnson. The pacer remained fourth in the bowling rankings. However, Johnson has surpassed Stuart broad to fourth position in the ICC Test rankings for all-rounders. Johnson had scored 37 and a hard fought 61 in the first Test.
