Australian opener David Warner struck another healthy half-century as Australia remained on top at lunch in the opening session of the Day 1 of the second of the three-match Test series against New Zealand at the WACA in Perth on Friday. Earlier, Australian skipper, Steven Smith won the toss and elected to bat first as he fielded the smae playing XI from the 1st Test win at The Gabba in Brisbane, while New Zealand skipper, Brendon McCullum brought in Matt Henry for Neil Wagner. Both the openers started in a positive fashion as they brought up the opening 50-run stand in just 10 overs, with Burns contributing 19, Warner contributuing 31, along with an extra. Burns had a scare in the 13th over for a leg-before, which was turned down by the upmire and also the DRS saving him. Meanwhile, Warner brought up his 20th half-century in Test cricket that came off 56 deliveries including seven boundaries. While it was in the 22nd over, when Australia brought up it’s 100 runs as both the openers contributed to it with Burns scoring 40, Warner scoring 58, along with a couple extras. However, it was the very next over that saw Burns fall for a healthy 40 to Matt Henry, who bowls him up. Out comes Usman Khawaja, who faces an over asd the umpires call for the lunch break just a minute early before the official time.
