Day 3 report: Rain, poor outfield conditions forces play to be called off again

The third day of the fourth Test between India and West Indies is set to be called off as a result of poor outfield. The groundsmen dug up half the ground, in a hope that it can absorb all the moisture, but that caused a lot of delay. The inspection, which was scheduled to be at 8.30 PM IST was also scrapped as the covers were back on at that time. West Indies ended Day One at 62 for 2 and we have not had play since the first session of the first day. Ishant Shamra and Ravichandran Ashwin picked up the two West Indies wickets to fall. India have been dominant for most parts f the series. They won the first Test at Antigua by an innings and 92 runs. West Indies offered some resistance at Jamaica and managed to hold on to a draw. Add Cricket Country as a Preferred Source

After Pakistan leveled the series against England and Australia were handed a 3-0 thrashing by Sri Lanka, India automatically moved up to the No. 1 position. But if they fail to lose this match, they will forfeit their top position to arch-rivals Pakistan. India skipper Virat Kohli has always maintained that rankings do not matter to him or his team, but he would have loved to end the series at the top of the table, nevertheless.

West Indies will play a couple of T20Is after this Test in USA, scheduled to be played at Lauderhill, Florida in August 27 and 28. West Indies under their new leader Carlos Brathwaite will look to put their disappointment of the Test series behind them and look to win the T20I series.
