In a freak accident in Harold Hill in East London, a deer died after getting caught in a cricket net and ‘impaling himself on his own antlers’. According to the Western Daily Press, the deer became distressed when he found himself trapped in the cricket net on Sunday early morning, and while trying to escape it, the animal ended up twisting its neck. The deer also speared himself with his antlers in the attempt. The body was found early on Sunday morning, and all attempts of reviving him turned futile.

The report added that Ardleigh Green Cricket Club are known to be using the nets to protect the pitch.
