Delhi Bowlers ruled the roost on Day-One of the Ranji Trophy 2014-15 quarter-final against Mumbai at Cuttack. The troika of Sumit Narwal, Parvinder Awana and Pradeep Sangwan were all over Mumbai like a cheap suit as the 40 times Ranji Trophy Champions wilted under the relentless assault. Left arm-spinner Manan Sharma also contributed to the carnage, snaffling two wickets.

Only captain Aditya Tare and Nikhil Patil provided brief resistance for Mumbai, with scores of 39 and 54 not out respectively. In response Delhi lost the early wicket of Unmukt Chand, but with  Gautam Gambhir at the crease and Virender Sehwag yet to bat,  they will endeavour to pile on the misery on Day-Two and put the match well beyond the reach of Mumbai.

The only way back for Mumbai is to go for an outright win, considering that bowling Delhi out for less than 156 in the first innings might prove a bridge too far.

Brief Scores:

Mumbai 156 in 81 overs (Aditya Tare 39, Nikhil Patil 54*; Sumit Narwal 3 for 37, Pradeep Sangwan 2 for 26) lead Delhi 20 for 1 in 6.5 overs (Unmukt Chand 15; Balwinder Sandhu 1 for 5) by 136 runs
