Khulna Titans defeated Dhaka Dynamites in the 18th game of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2016-17 at Chittagong on Saturday. Dhaka Dynamites are one of the strongest teams in the tournament and Khulna Titans have done tremendously well to win this encounter. Titans won the contest by nine runs and have also registered their second win in the tournament and now have four points to their name. Titans bowlers did a commendable job in restricting the strong Dynamites batting to 148 as conditions were good enough for batting. This win will certainly give Titans a lot of confidence, which will be beneficial in the matches to come. Seekkuge Prasanna came out fighting and got the ball rolling from the outset but failed by a whisker.  FULL CRICKET UPDATES: Dhaka Dynamites vs Khulna Titans, BPL 2016, Match 18 at Chittagong

Dynamites needed a good start from their openers, which would have been ideal for this run-chase but it wasn’t to be. Titans bowlers did well to chip early wickets with the new ball and put pressure on the opposition. Their in form batsman Mehedi Maruf was dismissed by Kevon Cooper for six after which Junaid Khan got the better of Kumar Sangakkara for two. Moments later, Nasir Hossain was undone by Cooper as Dynamites were in deep trouble inside 5 overs. Matt Coles got a start but Shafiul Islam ended his run for 11 as Dynamites were languishing at 30 for the loss of four wickets. Mosaddek Hossain played well for his 35 but Mosharraf Hossain ended his innings after which Seekkuge Prasanna played magnificently but lacked support from the other end.

Prasanna played a maverick knock of 53 off 22 deliveries, which contained seven massive sixes but didn’t turn out to be sufficient as the top-order failed to contribute. He almost carried his side over the line but got out in the final over, when his side needed just 10 runs in six balls. This wicket undoubtedly turned the game on its head and handed Titans their second win of the series.

Earlier, Titans didn’t get off to a desired start, as they lost their first wicket for 3. Hasanuzzaman was dismissed for a duck after which Shuvagata Hom took guard. Andre Fletcher got a good start but failed to convert as he was out after putting 20 runs on the board. Sunzamul Islam got the better of Fletcher as Titans were in trouble at 23 for the loss of two wickets inside the powerplay. Hom and Mahmudullah played brilliantly to weather the early storm and built a platform. Hom was removed by Dwayne Bravo with a beauty but Mahmudullah stood like a rock at the other end. Mahmudullah played brilliantly for his 62, which contained as many as four boundaries and equal number of sixes. It was a good display of graceful batting under pressure by Mahmudullah as Titans bowlers now have some runs on the board to play for.

Brief Score:

Khulna Titans ( Shuvagata Hom 24, Mahmudullah 62; Dwayne BRavo 2 for 27) beat Dhaka Dynamites (Mosaddek Hossain35, Seekkuge Prasanna 53; Mosharraf Hossain 3 for 31) by nine runs.  Â
