Dhanashree Verma’s cryptic dog post sparks buzz after Samay Raina’s ‘Sugar Daddy’ jibe at Yuzvendra Chahal

Influencer Dhanashree Verma and her ex-husband, cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, have been embroiled in controversy over a recent social media exchange. It all started when streamer and stand-up comedian Samay Raina shared a humorous yet contentious video of himself with RJ Mahvash on Instagram. Samay made a number of remarks in the video that many took to be subtle jabs at Dhanashree, such as jokes about her participation in the reality show Rise and Fall, alimony rumors, and alleged adultery.

Meanwhile, the video quickly went viral. Although Dhanashree’s name was never mentioned, several lines were seen as clear hints. At one point, Samay joked about his “rise and fall within two months” , a remark viewers linked to Dhanashree’s statement on Rise and Fall, where she claimed that Chahal had cheated on her just two months into their marriage. The comedian also joked about “half of eight crores,” a reference many believed was aimed at the alleged Rs 4.75 crore alimony. He even wore a T-shirt reading, “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” the same phrase printed on a shirt Chahal was spotted wearing during their divorce proceedings.

Through her Instagram stories, Dhanashree seemed to implicitly comment on the viral video. She shared a picture of her favorite dog on social media with the caption, “Don’t worry guys, meri mumma ka acha samay hi chal raha hai,” written from the dog’s point of view. “Buri nazar wale tera muh kaala,” a phrase that loosely translates to “Evil-eyed people, shame on you,” was another sticker she added. Fans instantly linked the “sugar daddy” remark to her message, interpreing it as a subtly humorous comeback.

Later, Samay posted a screenshot of a video chat with Chahal, captioned, “Love you, my sugar daddy,” along with laughing emojis, further escalating the scandal. Chahal added to the drama by commenting, “Be ready for one more case,” with laughing emojis – a move that only intensified the online buzz.

Since their well-publicized breakup earlier this year, the former couple has faced faced intense public scrutiny. Dhanashree spoke candidly about her marriage on Rise and Fall, revealing that she “caught him in the second month” and immediately knew things wouldn’t work out. She also denied alimony-related rumors, claiming the divorce was peaceful and consensual.

Dhanashree’s online dance classes brought her and Yuzvendra Chahal together during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. They got married in December that year, but after a highly publicized fallout, their relationship ended in 2025.
