‘Don’t know when it is…’: MS Dhoni shares his honest opinion about IPL retirement plans
MS Dhoni speaks about thoughts on retiring from IPL
Following their 2-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni stated at the post-match conference that he has played for a long time, and there is no confirmation about the day when he will be stepping on the ground for the last time.
“Not to forget I am 42 (43). I have played a long time. A lot of them (fans) don’t know when it is going to be my last time, so they want to come and see me play,” Dhoni said.
MS Dhoni stated that he is going to work hard for 6-8 months for his future after the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 ends. This will provide him with noting and deciding on whether his body can live up to the demands of the game.
“There is no escaping the fact (that I am in the last phase of my career). After this IPL gets over, I have to work hard for another 6-8 months to see if my body can take this pressure. Nothing to decide now but the love and affection I have seen is excellent,” he added.
MS Dhoni had gone through a knee surgery in 2023 and has played constantly while battling with fitness concerns. He has been seen struggling to run on the field, and his short outings on the field often show him facing issues with his leg.
Speaking about their clash, Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by two wickets to send the defending champions virtually out of the IPL play-offs contention here on Wednesday.
CSK chased down the target of 180 with two balls to spare with Dewald Brevis top-scoring with 52 off just 25 balls while Shivam Dube and captain MS Dhoni chipped in with 45 and 17 not out respectively.
