Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara’s comradery goes back a long while. Not only did the both of them play for the senior Indian cricket team for a significant amount of time, they were part of the same U-19 team as well. Recently, during the launch of Pujara’s wife Pooja’s book, ‘The Diary of a Cricketer’s Wife’, the two cricketers shared a hilarious memory.

I’m sure it’s not written in the book. Is there anything regarding that West Indies tour of India A 2012. What happened?” Rohit asked Pujara.

I haven’t told. I mean, she is aware but she doesn’t know the details. I am a vegetarian. So we were looking for a vegetarian meal at night. It was in TNT (Trinidad and Tobago) where we went out at 11 in the evening. We didn’t find the meal but when we were walking back, I was mugged. I can’t tell you in detail about it but that’s the story he is referring to,” is what Pujara shared about the incident.

Rohit then said, “Moral of the story sometimes he can be stubborn. We told him, we warned him, don’t go in the night. 9 baje ke baad raat ko bahar mat nikalna, ye West Indies hai (Don’t step out after 9 PM, this is West Indies).”

Speaking about Cheteshwar Pujara, he plays for Saurashtra in the Indian domestic circuit and is not in the Indian national squad. He was a great player for the national team, especially in the Test format. However, following a string of poor performances Pujara was dropped from the Indian National Team after a poor showing at the World Test Championship Final in 2023.

Speaking about Rohit Sharma, he is currently the ODI captain of Team India. Rohit had retired from T20I format after India won the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rohit then announced his retirement from Test cricket few weeks before the India vs England Test series, which is set to now begin June 20.
