Dwayne Bravo ruled out of BBL 06; to undergo surgery

Melbourne Renegades and West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has ruled himself out of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 6 after he suffered a hamstring injury during a match against Perth Scorchers. Bravo sustained injury while trying to stop a boundary. Bravo held his hamstring as soon he incurred pain. Bravo underwent a scan after he was stretchered off the field. The scans revealed that Bravo will require a surgery. Scorchers beat Renegades off the final ball with a six after Aaron Finch bowled the final over of the match. Scorchers are now on top of the BBL 06 table, with 4 points from 3 matches, while Renegades stutter at fifth place with 2 points from as many games.

“Unfortunately my Big Bash season is over which is very disappointing,” Bravo said on Friday., according to cricket.com.au. “I’ll now have surgery and the rehabilitation to get me fit and playing at my best again. I want to thank all the Renegades fans for their support for me and I hope to see them again next season.” Finch said that the loss to Renegades was a big blow for the team. “It’s a huge blow, he’s one of the best all-rounders in the world,” Finch said on Thursday. “It’s an unbelievably damaging blow for us, but also for him because we know how much he loves coming out here.”

Renegades spinner Brad Hogg believes that it is now up to the team to ensure that they step up in the absence of Bravo. “I drove him home last night and he was more gutted about the loss,” Hogg said. “You never want to see players like that go down. If you see the footage, his ankle went below him and the surface was a bit uneven.”

“At the end of the day, you do lose players throughout the tournament.
