The International Cricket Council has cleared Kolkata’s Eden Gardens for hosting the remaining three matches of World Cup 2011, after the iconic stadium lost the big match between India and England to be played on February 27, reports say.
On January 27, the ICC had denied permitting the Eden Gardens to hold India vs England match due to the construction work still being under process, but has now stated that all work should be finished by February 22 and the remaining matches can be held.
Eden Gardens will now host South Africa vs Ireland on March 15, Netherlands vs Ireland on March 18, and Zimbabwe vs Kenya March 20.
The match between India and England scheduled on February 27 will now be held at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
