New Delhi: If reports are to be believed, India skipper Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the 5th test between India and England. Sharma tested positive for COVID-19 during the 4-day warm-up game against Leicestershire. In the absence of Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah will lead the team in the 5th Test. Bumrah will become the first Indian pacer after Kapil Dev to lead the Indian Test team.

There has been no official confirmation on the same but as per reports doing around on social media, Rohit is all set to sit out of the Test and Bumrah will lead the team. Rishabh Pant was also in line to lead the team but the Bumrah edged ahead due to his seniority and greater maturity.

In the absence of Rohit, Mayank Agarwal will open the innings along with Shubman Gill. Mayank was added to the Indian squad after Rohit Sharma tested positive for COVID-19.
