One of India’s greatest players Kapil Dev had once said about James Anderson – “Every time he comes he looks like taking wickets. He is just a fantastic bowler. He is a compete package. He has everything: speed, a smooth run-up, and every other quality. He uses the crease very nicely. He can give the ball a lift. He swings the ball both ways. He has an effective bouncer, superb slower ones. What more could one ask for?,” as quoted by midday. ALSO READ: James Anderson and others who took 400 Test wickets

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka were given a huge blow before the Test series began as their main strike bowler Dhammika Prasad was ruled out of the first Test due to an injury. Angelo Mathews is captaining the young side and the team has struggled after the retirement of legends Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. England are hot favourites to win the series especially with their batsmen Alistair Cook, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes in top-form.
