England continue their dominance over New Zealand in the second Test on Tea on Day Two at Headingley. They are 163 for zero at the end of 50 overs and looking really strong as New Zealand continue to look for their first breakthrough.

Adam Lyth has been very impressive, scoring his maiden Test fifty and is looking set to get to his ton. He and captain Alastair Cook have kept the England bowlers at bay with a superb 150-run stand. Alastair Cook became England’s highest-ever run-scorer in Test cricket when he broke the record of batting mentor Graham Gooch. The 30-year-old left-handed opener started England’s reply to New Zealand’s first innings 350 on Saturday needing just 32 more runs to surpass Gooch’s mark of 8,900 runs in 118 Tests. England earlier bowled out New Zealand for 350. Tom Latham (84) and Luke Ronchi (88) missed out on tons as they took New Zealand to 297 for eight at end of Day One. Rain had washed away a chunk of first session but England picked wickets at regular intervals. The lower order from New Zealand then played cameos to take them to 350 as Stuart Broad took his 13th five-wicket haul in Tests.

Earlier, England won the toss on Day One and inserted New Zealand into bat. They were unchanged. New Zealand replaced the injured Corey Anderson with Luke Ronchi.
