England fast bowler Stuart Broad could miss the rest of the World Cup after suffering a side strain in the dramatic win over South Africa, a team spokesman said Tuesday. “He is doubtful for the match against Bangladesh on Friday. Scans will be done to see if he stays for the rest of the World Cup,” said team spokesman James Avery.

 

England are already reeling from losing star batsman Kevin Pietersen, who left for home on Monday to undergo a hernia operation.

 

Broad, 24, has endured a nightmare time with injuries in recent months having missed the last three Ashes Tests with a stomach injury.

 

He took 4-15 against South Africa in Chennai on Sunday as England clinched a thrilling six-run win.

England seamer Stuart Broad, who played a vital part in their six-run victory over South Africa in World Cup Group b match a few days ago, is  in danger to be ruled out of thw World Cup due to a side strain.

“He is doubtful for the match against Bangladesh on Friday. Scans will be done to see if he stays for the rest of the World Cup,” team spokesman James Avery was quoted by the Press Trust of India.

Broad also missed the important league match against India due to food poisoning on February 27.

England’s star bowler Broad also missed the last three Ashes Tests and the ODI series against Australia due to an abdominal strain.

England have already lost Kevin Pietersen due to Hernia, who has been replaced by Eoin Morgan.
