England had to be content with a draw against Haryana in their third and the final practice match at Motera, Ground B, Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Stuart Meaker, who is in an impressive form, dismissed Rahul Dewan and Samit Patel dismissed Sachin Rana. Haryana were 73 for 2 at tea with Nitin Saini and Sunny Singh on the crease.

Haryana need another 369 with eight wickets remaining to win this game with few hours left for the match to end.

Earlier, Jonathan Trott slammed a 183-ball 101 before retiring as England XI took a 408-run lead in their second innings against Haryana in the third and final warm-up game at Ahmedabad. The visitors reached 221 for two at Lunch on the fourth and final day of the match, getting good batting practice before the Test series against India.

Trott, who resumed his innings on his overnight score of 61, lost opening partner Nick Compton (79) to medium pacer Sachin Rana (one for 42). One-down Ian Bell then supported Trott past the 400-run lead before the latter retired. Wicket-keeper Matt Prior came in next, but didn t trouble the scorers much as he ran himself out for two.

Seamer Tim Bresnan was the surprise No 5 batsman for England XI as the visitors rested captain Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen.

With Haryana skipper Amit Mishra deciding not to bowl in the second innings, it further handicapped the preparations of the England batsmen.
