England‘s preparations for their two-Test series against Bangladesh were disrupted Friday when the first day’s play of a two-day warm-up fixture against a Bangladesh XI was cancelled due to an unplayable pitch. England are scheduled to play another two-day warm-up match against a BCB XI on October 16 and October 17 as part of their preparations for the Test series against Bangladesh. The opening Test begins in Chittagong on October 20. The second Test will be played in Mirpur, starting October 28. Alastair Cook will lead England in whites though regular One-Day International (ODI) skipper, Eoin Morgan, skipped the three-ODI series due to security concerns. However, England won the series 2-1 under Jos Buttler. Full Cricket Scorecard, Bangladesh vs England, 1st Test, Mirpur

“Umpires deemed the ground condition was not suitable to start the match after overnight rain. The two teams will now play a 45-over match tomorrow”, told a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) spokesman.

England will like to impose a whitewash on Bangladesh in the short series as their next Test series will be against the No. 1 Test team in ICC Test rankings, i.e. India. India won their last Test series against New Zealand 3-0 to earn the prestigious tag and England will like to prepare well for the upcoming series by playing hard against Bangladesh. Joe Root will also be back for the Test series as he was rested for the shorter format. England are No. 4 while Bangladesh are ranked No. 9 in the Test rankings.
