Alam in contention for Pakistan's T20 captaincy

Karachi: Sep 8, 2014
A report has revealed that Pakistan cricketer Fawad Alam has emerged as potential contender for the post of the T20 captain that has been vacant since Mohammad Hafeez resigned the post last April.
Earlier, 22-year-old Ahmed Shehzad was being tipped by many as Hafeez’s successor after he scored Pakistan’s first-ever T20 hundred in the ICC World T20 2014 against Bangladesh in the pool fixture at Dhaka but he was removed from the list of Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) possible list of candidates because of disciplinary issues, reported the Dawn.
However, Shehzad’s absence has cleared the way for 28-year-old Fawad, who was relegated to the margins for about three years until he made a spectacular comeback during the Asia Cup in Bangladesh last March. He has although not been a part of the national T20 team since December 2010 but sources in the PCB said that he has the ideal temperament to lead the Pakistani team in Twenty20 Internationals.
