Foot surgery may keep Mitchell Johnson out of India series

Left-arm pacer Mitchell Johnson may undergo surgery on his left foot, which could rule him out of action from Australia’s Test series against New Zealand and India.
Johnson suffered the injury while batting in the second innings of the second Test against South Africa, and had been sent for scans, which revealed the presence of a metal embedded under his left big toe.
Surprisingly, no entry point of the metal was noticed during the scan, and Adelaide Now reported that the metal may have been there some time – perhaps even since his childhood.
Australia physiotherapist Alex Kountouris told WAtoday, “He’s still seeing specialists so that [surgery] may happen or it may not. There’s more tests to be done and more specialists to consult. He’s got an unusual injury so it’s something that we need to have a careful think about but I can tell you now he’s not definitely having surgery. We haven’t made a decision on it yet. We’re just trying to manage it.”
Austrlaia’s lead pacer Johnson has had a poor run in last one year, taking only 13 wickets at an average of 57.
