As India prepare to play against New Zealand at home, Rohit Sharma shares a very nostalgic post about his initial days. Rohit is a member of the Indian side ready to take on the Kiwi visitors in three Tests, and five One-Day Internationals (ODI) against New Zealand at home. Rohit also played in the warm-up fixture for Mumbai against the touring side recently. Sharing a picture of people playing cricket at the Azad Maidan, where Rohit started playing cricket, Rohit wrote in a nostalgic note about his glorious journey that started at the same venue.

Rohit shared a photo on Instagram saying, “From Azad Maidan to the Indian Cricket team, it all started here.”

Rohit, who is one of the biggest stars of Indian cricket team currently, belonged to a middle-class family. He stayed with his grandparents due to financial issues and with the help of his uncle, started learning cricket at a very young age. The player impressed everyone scoring several centuries at school levels. Among his popular stories of struggling period are the ones of traveling in local trains to attend his cricket coaching. An off-spinner in the initial phase, coach Dinesh Lad identified the batsman in him and then there was no stopping. Rohit stayed away from his parents to invest more of his time in cricket and went on to become the player he is today.
