Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe, BAN vs ZIM 1st T20I, Bangladesh Tri-Series 2019 LIVE streaming: Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by three wickets

Whoa. A thriller. Who saw that coming? Not many. Or did any? Bangladesh were expected to win this contest and they did. But not without huffing and puffing.

145 was never meant to trouble the hosts but it did. Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar started well, adding 26 in 3 overs but then, the former’s wicket changed proceedings. Bangladesh slipped from 26/0 to 60/6 in the span of 40 balls and at that stage, it looked like Zimbabwe had the game in the bag. But no. In came the two Hossains.

With their backs to the wall, Mosaddek and Afif played counter-attacking cricket. Zimbabwe had no answer and sloppiness started to creep into their game. Misfields, dropped catches, poor lines and lengths, everything started going the hosts’ way and the two Hossains looked unstoppable in an 82-run stand of just 47 balls. Afif played a blinder and scored a 24-ball fifty, the joint second fastest for Bangladesh in T20Is.

WICKET: Tendai Chatara to Shakib Al Hasan. out, OUT c Hamilton Masakadza b Tendai Chatara. Bangladesh have lost their fourth wicket.

WICKET: Kyle Jarvis to Mushfiqur Rahim. out, OUT! CAUGHT! Excellent stuff this from Zimbabwe! Three quick wickets for them! Good length delivery on off which stopped on the surface, Rahim looks to flick.

WICKET: Kyle Jarvis to Soumya Sarkar. out, OUT! CAUGHT! Poor cricket this from Sarkar! He knows that they have just lost a ET: wicket here! Flatter delivery outside off, Sarkar goes for a lofted drive mid off but does not time it well. The mid off fielder runs in and takes a simple catch.

WICKET: Tendai Chatara to Liton Das. out, OUT! BOWLED! Excellent yorker from Chatara! Bowls it aimed at the middle stump, Das makes room for himself and looks to block it out but is unable to do it. Liton was looking good out there and should have hoped to continue out there.

Zimbabwe finish on 144/5: Phenomenal recovery from Zimbabwe. From 63/6, Ryan Burl and Tinotenda Mutombodzi add unbeaten 81 off 51 balls to propel Zimbabwe to 144/5. Burl finishes on 57 off 32 balls. Will Bangladesh chase this down? Join us shortly for the 2nd innings.

Floodlight failure in Dhaka: Whoa! Bizarre scenes at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium. All the floodlights have gone off due to what seems to be an abrupt power failure and the entire stadium had gone pitch dark for almost 10 minutes. Thankfully, they’re back on and we’ll have the final over of the first innings bowled.

Burl burning it up: It’s been an incredible recovery by Zimbabwe. From 63/5, they’ve reached 125/5 in 16 overs – 30 off those coming in the last over from Shakib. Ryan Burl clobbered the Bangladesh captain for 30 runs in the 16th over to race to a maiden T20I half-century – off 28 balls. Terrific.

Zimbabwe lose Ervine after FIFTY: There’s the wicket. Zimbabwe had upped the ante after that first wicket fell early. Hamilton Masakadza went into overdrive, smashing 18 off the sixth over from Taijul. But just after bringing up their fifty, Ervine found the fielder in the deep to give Mustafizur Rahman his first wicket of the match.

WICKET: Taijul Islam gets his maiden T20I wicket – off the first ball of his T20I career. Brendon Taylor goes for the slog and top edges the ball to short third man. Zimbabwe 7/1 in 1.1 overs

Zimbabwe (Playing XI): Brendan Taylor (wk), Hamilton Masakadza (capt), Ryan Burl, Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, Timycen Maruma, Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Tony Munyonga, Neville Madziva, Kyle Jarvis, Tendai Chatara

Bangladesh (Playing XI): Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman

Hamilton Masakadza: We would’ve bowled as well as the wicket was under covers. Little bit difficult since we don’t get to play much but we are looking to put up a good show. Hoping to pull the team through today; a couple of guys returning to the team after a while, so looking forward to the game.

Shakib Al Hasan: We are looking to field first. Rain around, not sure about the weather and the total. So, would like to take early wickets and put them under pressure. It’s a completely different format, we have to be at our best. It’s all part of the preparations for the World T20 in Australia next year.

TOSS: It’s finally here! Shakib Al Hasan has won the toss and Bangladesh will be bowling against Zimbwbwe. T20I debut for left-arm spinner Taijul Islam. Also, the match has been reduced to an 18-over-per-side contest

UPDATE: An official word is out. A pitch inspection will take place at 7:00 PM.

UPDATE: The TOSS has been delayed in Dhaka due to a wet outfield. It’s been raining since last night and also during the day. The rollers and the super soppers are out at the moment. Hopefully, by the look of it, it the delay shouldn’t last long.

After suffering a massive defeat in the only Test against Afghanistan, a wounded Bangladesh would be keen to get their acts together in the T20 I tri-series. They take on Zimbabwe in the first match at Dhaka.
