Former India coach and South African left-hand batsman Gary Kirsten, who recently parted ways with Delhi Daredevils, is likely return to Indian Premier League as the coach for team Rajkot, owned by Intex. Rajkot, who has an ownership for two years, are keen to rope in the South African player who has had experience of working with Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja during his stint with the Indian team. Rajkot is keen to hire a coach who has experience of coaching at the highest level. As reported on indianexpress.com, a source says that the players who were picked at the time of the draft were informed that Kirsten would be the coach for the team. After coaching India until World Cup 2011, Kirsten returned to the South African set-up to be closer to his family. Under Kirsten’s guidance, South Africa gained the No. 1 spot in Test rankings. They also won Test matches against England, Australia and New Zealand under Kirsten’s coaching. The five players picked for team Rajkot during the draft were Raina, Jadeja, Brendon McCullum, James Faulkner and Dwayne Bravo. On the other hand, the Pune team is likely to rope in Stephen Fleming as their coach. If Fleming comes on board, he will team with MS Dhoni once again. The duo has had a good stint at IPL earlier for Chennai Super Kings which has helped CSK to win two IPL titles and were runners-up on three occasions. Faf du Plessis and Ravichandran Ashwin were also picked from CSK. Ajinkya Rahane and Steven Smith was picked from Rajasthan Royals for Pune team.
