Delhi: Oct 18, 2014

Steve Waugh, the former Australia captain, believes that Glenn Maxwell and David Warner would be crucial to Australia’s chances at the ICC World Cup 2015. Waugh also picked Australia to win the World Cup and said that they could beat South Africa in the final of the big event.

Speaking at an event organised by Aaj-Tak-Headlines Today, Waugh said, “AB de Villiers will be a key man for South Africa. David Warner and Maxwell have a huge tournament coming up. May be it is south africa’s turn. They are favourites and no one is talking about them.”

When asked who would win the event, he emphatically said, “Australia. They will beat South Africa in the final. Maxwell will turn out to be a major player.”

Allan Border, another former Australia captain, also believed Maxwell would have a big impact. “Australia will be under pressure. I rate Australia for this World Cup. They are a hard side to beat and it will be an Australia-South Africa final. Glenn Maxwell may have a huge impact,” said Border.
