If everything goes out right for the MRF Pace Academy, then former Australian quickie Glenn McGrath may soon be seen in a mentors role to budding Indian pacers.
The Pace Academy, which has McGrath working as a director in its Chennai base, has already submitted a proposal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which if approved will see McGrath donning the mentors cap reported the Times of India.
A select band of pacers from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore will head off to Chennai to train under the watchful eyes of McGrath.
“It will be a great opportunity. I would love to work with the young Indian crop,” said McGrath who has played 124 Tests, 250 ODIs and 2 Twenty 20 matches for Australia.
When asked about the Indian bowlers failures in recent matches which also included the 4-0 loss against New Zealand in the ODI series, McGrath replied,” I haven’t seen a single bowler who can bowl six good yorkers…If he can, I am sure the batsmen won’t be able to take him apart that easily.”
Australian Joe Dawes is the current bowling coach of the Indian team.
