South Africa s Test captain Graeme Smith has rubbished various media reports of him quitting captaincy after team s recent 208- run defeat to Sri Lanka at Kingsmead.

Smith was quoted by Zee News as saying “That s not the case at all. As long as (Gary Kirsten) and the team want me in the job, I ll do the job.

“For as long as I m wanted as captain, I ll get in and do the job to the best of my ability. Unfortunately, when you lose in the manner that we did today, there are disappointing stories out there but I think that one was a bit too much.”

Smith s comments came after various sections of South African media reported that the left-hander had decided to call it quits for being dissatisfied with the selection process.
